TWO RIVERS, Wis. (WBAY) - An exhaustive search continues in Two Rivers for the now 4-year-old Elijah Vue. His grandma confirming Tuesday is his birthday. Vue was reported missing in Two Rivers 6 months ago Tuesday.

“I think every day I am hopeful there is going to be some update or some good news or something, but we are met with a lot of nothing,” said Amy Conant, a Two Rivers community member.

Clear questions remain—but Captain Andrew Raatz says the department remains determined.

“In our minds, we’re always thinking about Elijah. It’s a number one priority,” said Captain Raatz.

Captain Raatz says it’s apparent that day-to-day operations have changed as the small department slowly moves back into standard operating procedures. However, he doesn’t want people getting the wrong idea. He says there’s a lot going on behind the scenes.

“We’re using different technology in areas where we searched before, such as looking for early anomalies in the ground, that type of thing. So using different technologies that are out there, but we’re still we’re still searching. We’re still investigating,” said Captain Raatz.

The FBI confirming to Action 2 news—they are still assisting local and state authorities in this case.

“Their video analyzing equipment is huge in these investigations,” Captain Braatz noted.

Vue’s caretaker, Jesse Vang and his mother—Katrina Baur—are charged in connection to this case, but not with his disappearance. Both remain in custody on charges of chronic child neglect.

Police say the investigation is still getting emails and tips from around the world. Captain Raatz is also asking people to keep their eyes open as the seasons change.

“Soon, we’re getting into hunting time, we’re getting into fields will be harvested, things like that. There’ll be different changes in the environment. With those changes, maybe something will come up,” said Captain Raatz.

When Action 2 News asked Captain Raatz if he believes Vue is still alive, he responded, “I mean, statistically, at this point, six months in, the likelihood isn’t great, and we’re aware of that. However, right now, we’re really focused on the investigation part of it, and to find out what happened to him.”

The reward still sits at $40,000 for anyone who has any information that leads to the whereabouts of Elijah Vue.
