MANITOWOC COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) - The defense team for a man who was convicted in the death of a 7-year-old relative is asking for a judge to reduce his sentence.
Damian Hauschultz was originally sentenced to 20 years in prison and 10 years of extended supervision in 2021 and has already served 6 years.
His attorney is now seeking to reduce the time to 8 years in jail with 10 years of extended supervision.
They argue that his abusive, controlling home environment was a contributing factor, and say that a psychologist’s view that he’s at a low risk of re-offending and open to treatment are reasons to support their case.
Hauschultz is due back in court on June 19th.
