Sprinklers set off in mechanical room at Oconto hospital

OCONTO, Wis. (WBAY) - Firefighters are investigating what set off the sprinklers in a mechanical room at an Oconto hospital on Saturday.

According to the Oconto Fire Rescue Department, firefighters responded to a fire alarm at the Emplify Health by Bellin Oconto Hospital. The alarm indicated water was flowing in the sprinkler system.

The fire department said crews entered the building and searched to find water leaking in the shipping and receiving area. The water was traced to a mechanical room that contained air and vacuum compressors. The water was shut off and water was evacuated from the area.

Fire officials are investigating what caused the sprinklers to activate, but it is believed to have been triggered by an overheated motor for the vacuum system.

No one was injured.
