Deputy fired after being charged with kidnapping female arrestee
TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD/Gray News) - A deputy with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department has been fired after being arrested on a kidnapping charge.
Pima County authorities said 22-year-old Travis Reynolds was let go after the Tucson Police Department arrested him on Thursday.
An interim complaint states that Reynolds was on duty and was transporting a woman to the Pima County Jail when he commented on her appearance, calling her “hot.”
While the alleged victim was still in handcuffs, they shared a vape pen, and Reynolds told her he “could help with her case,” authorities said.
When the woman asked how, Reynolds allegedly “explained he would not go to court. He also stated they could go to a hotel and have sex.”
According to the complaint, the woman said Reynolds then showed her sexually explicit videos. The woman said she asked to be taken inside the jail, but Reynolds refused.
Authorities said the alleged victim told them that she had never been arrested before and did not know the procedural steps or what was taking so long. She said she saw multiple officers coming and going with their arrestees, but she was still in the vehicle.
The woman said Reynolds eventually got her out of the car but then told her to show him her breasts, the complaint read. She lifted her shirt to expose her bra, and that’s when Reynolds reportedly brought her inside the jail.
Video surveillance from the Pima County Jail confirmed parts of the woman’s details given, authorities noted.
Reynolds stated that he may or may not have been involved in showing the woman a video of sexual acts, according to the complaint. He also stated he may or may not have been involved in the discussion of having sex at a hotel.
Reynolds does not have a criminal history, according to his defense.
The 22-year-old appeared in court on Friday and is scheduled to appear next on April 6.
