UW-Oshkosh rolls past Washington University 64-43 to reach D-III Elite Eight
Titans advance to host University of Chicago in Elite 8 on Saturday night
OSHKOSH, Wis. (WBAY) - UW-Oshkosh defeated Washington University of St. Louis 64-43 in a Division III Sweet 16 game Thursday, advancing to the Elite Eight. The Titans will host the University of Chicago on Saturday at 8 p.m.
Slow start gives way to Titans run
Oshkosh managed just four first-quarter points and trailed by six after a three-minute scoring drought to open the game. Former Notre Dame Academy standout Sarah Hardwick converted an and-one during the stretch.
The Titans took control in the second quarter. Abbey Inda cut the deficit to three, then Avery Poole scored on a layup to give Oshkosh the lead. Sammi Beyer hit a shot at the shot clock buzzer, and the Titans headed into halftime with a three-point advantage.
Second half
Washington University’s Jordan Rich scored a left-handed layup to open the third quarter and briefly reclaim the lead. Poole answered with a 3-pointer, and Kate Huml added another on the next possession. Oshkosh pulled away from there, winning by 21.
The Titans are now one win away from returning to the Division III Final Four.
