OSHKOSH, Wis. (WBAY) - EAA welcomed John Duffy to its Speaker Series on Thursday night to give attendees a firsthand account of what it was like to serve as a rescue pilot during the Vietnam War.
Duffy enlisted in 1954, began pilot training just five years later, and in January of 1960, he finally earned his wings.
In his speech, Duffy told the story of a mission he completed back in 1986, rescuing pilots whose aircraft were shot down by enemy forces.
“It’s nice to be able to let people know what happened and how it happened and what we did to save people,” says Duffy.
The next speaker session is scheduled for March 19th at 7 p.m.
Sessions are free to attend for EAA members, and just $5 for nonmembers.
