KAUKAUNA, Wis. (WBAY) - Kaukauna city leaders are holding a hearing Tuesday on amending city rules to regulate future, potential data centers in the city.

We first alerted you about the amendment last week when the city’s Plans Commission first brought up the idea.

The change would allow data centers to be built in the city but with “special exceptions.”

A public hearing would be required before any data center can be built, and the city could put limits on water and energy usage for a potential facility.

Kaukauna hasn’t been approached for any data center plans, but a proposal in neighboring Brown County was recently withdrawn after community outcry.

The Common Council will meet to discuss the ordinance at 7 p.m.
