MADISON, Wis. (WBAY) - Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers and state Department of Children and Families announced a new tool to help anyone interested in starting a licensed or certified child care program.

The “Roadmap to Child Care Regulation” helps potential providers determine their best program option and navigate the regulation process.

It also has an online licensing application, available to new and current providers. Previously, applications could only be submitted on paper.

The DCF says Wisconsin has a growing child care crisis, with child care providers either facing too much demand and a wait list, or not enough skilled employees to welcome as many children as they’re licensed for.
