OSHKOSH, Wis. (WBAY) - The Oshkosh Area School District hosted a dedication ceremony on Friday for the new Merrill Memorial Corner.

The event celebrating and honoring the legacy of the former Merrill Elementary and Middle School, and all the community members who passed through its doors.

The Merrill Memorial Corner will serve as a lasting tribute, featuring reclaimed stone and brick from the former building.

“The ‘M’ is from the old building, the concrete casting from the old building, we think that’s an important piece just to be able to carry forward, and also be able to again, just memorialize the great legacy of service that we had,” said Bryan Davis, the Superintendent at the Oshkosh Area School District. “We’ve had generations of kids that formed friendships here, their junior high and middle school experiences here, really formidable years and that happened for decades and decades.”

Construction of the Merrill Memorial Corner, as well as the vel Phillips Middle School Track and Field is nearing completion, with the final work to be finished in the coming weeks.
