WINNEBAGO COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) - The Winnebago County Medical Examiner’s Office welcomed a new member to their agency: K9 Brie.

Brie is a one-year-old golden-doodle and will work as a therapy dog, providing comfort under stressful or emotional circumstances to family and friends grieving the loss of a loved one.

“The great thing about dogs in general, but these highly trained dogs have the ability to sense what a human needs. When they’re feeling sad or when they’re overcome with emotion, they know what they need and it’s a non-threatening, non-human thing for them to focus on,” said Winnebago County Sheriff John Matz.

K9 Brie will live with her partner, Deputy Medical Examiner Mackenzie Repinski when she is off duty.
