WAUPACA, Wis. (WBAY) - Jury deliberations have ended for the day without a verdict and will continue Friday in the double homicide cold case trial in Waupaca County.

Thursday morning, the jury wrote a letter to the judge asking how to go about convincing other jurors to make a unanimous decision.

The jury is deliberating the verdict of Tony Haase, who is facing two murder charges for the deaths of Tanna Togstad and Tim Mumbrue. The couple was found stabbed to death in 1992. Haase wasn’t charged until 2022.

Judge Ray Huber read a note from the jury Thursday morning, which asked how the “individual veto” process interacts with the process of building or making a unanimous decision.

The judge told the jury to go back into chambers to discuss and share opinions to come back with a collective verdict.

“This is supposed to be a deliberative process,” Judge Huber said. “No one needs to absolutely change if their minds are made up. They don’t need to change, but you should talk at least among themselves and in good faith and explain why you believe what you believe.”

The jury deliberated until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. They will continue Friday morning at 8:00 p.m.
