Fox Crossing hit-and-run crash leads to chase, standoff with police

FOX CROSSING, Wis. (WBAY) - A 19-year-old man is facing charges after police said he was involved in a hit-and-run crash, followed by a police chase and standoff.
On Friday afternoon, Menasha Police responded to help Fox Crossing Police with a crash where people were hurt. One of the vehicles left the scene.
Shortly after the initial report of the crash, authorities began receiving calls about a vehicle that fled the scene driving recklessly in Menasha. Officers tried to stop the vehicle at the south end of the Racine Street Bridge.
The vehicle eventually stopped in the driveway of a residence on Naymut Street. The driver got out and ran into the home. Officers were able to talk to the man who admitted to bring the driver however he refused to come out of the home.
Police negotiated with the man in the home for hours. Police learned other people were in the home, including a young child, so officers decided not to use force their way into the home to protect other people’s safety.
The driver was identified as a 19-year-old Menasha man. His name wasn’t released. Police are referring charges to the Winnebago County District Attorney’s Office for Eluding, Resisting and Obstructing an Officer, and Failing to Comply with Officers Attempts to Take a Person into Custody.
