GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - The sounds of music and singing filled the air at the Midwest Music Connection one-day choir event on Saturday.

This is the second event of the year for the group founded by Jennifer Shomin and her sister, Ashley Klatkiewicz.

The organization was created to give people a look at different musical backgrounds while also coming together to share the love of singing throughout the community.

Those in attendance were able to learn and perform two songs.

Co-founder Jen Shomin says events like these serve as a safe space for people who enjoy music.

“It doesn’t matter if you have 15 years of experience or no years of experience, if you love to sing, we want you. It doesn’t matter what you sound like, it doesn’t have to be perfect, that’s why we’re not doing this for performance, it’s just for the joy of it,” says Shomin.

The group hopes to continue to grow in numbers with their next event on September 20th.
