WPS Foundation donates to Green Bay Public Market Project
GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - The WPS Foundation provided a $150,000 donation to help build the Green Bay Public Market, Green Bay Public Market and On Broadway, Inc. staff announced Thursday.
The funds come from the WPS Foundation which supports initiatives for community and neighborhood development, health and human services, arts and culture, education and environment.
“The WPS Foundation is proud to help On Broadway, Inc., create this transformational space in the heart of our community,” said Pat Schillinger of Wisconsin Public Service. “Our support of the Green Bay Public Market will enhance access to healthy food options while giving local businesses new opportunities to thrive in the city’s downtown area. We’re excited to see this project come to life as part of our commitment to build a vibrant future for our communities.”
The Green Bay Public Market Capital Campaign is ongoing, and new or additional donors are welcome, the Green Bay Public Market says. Interested individuals or companies are encouraged to contact Brooke Hafs, Vice President of Donor Engagement.
On Broadway originally hoped last year to open the Green Bay Public Market by the NFL Draft, but they didn’t meet that goal.
“The WPS Foundation’s commitment to building stronger, healthier, and more connected communities is perfectly aligned with the goals of this project and we are grateful for their generous donation,” said Brian Johnson, president & CEO of On Broadway, Inc. “Their support not only reflects their investment in our vision but also reinforces the importance of accessible, vibrant public spaces that foster economic growth and community well-being. Thank you, Pat Schillinger and the rest of the WPS team, for recognizing the catalytic impact the public market will have on the continued development of the neighborhoods around the market footprint and the entire Broadway District of downtown Green Bay.”
