UW-Oshkosh officials say that budget deficit will be eliminated in July
GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - Leaders at UW-Oshkosh say the university will eliminate its budget deficit completely by July 1st, an estimated $18 million.
That date lines up with an academic realignment plan published on the university’s website, with action slated for July 1st.
The university’s four college categories are being reorganized into three colleges, and nearly 50 departments and programs are being compiled into six schools.
The consolidation could save $2 million.
A post on the Office of the Chancellor’s page on the university website says a 2% restriction was put in place for the 2024 fiscal year budget, and another may be requested.
Many staff and faculty members were also laid off or given voluntary retirement.
