Fatal single-vehicle crash in Winnebago County

OSHKOSH, Wis. (WBAY) - One person is dead after a one-vehicle crash in the Township of Oshkosh on Saturday evening.

Just after 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 45, north of County Trunk Y, in the Winnebago County Township of Oshkosh.

Deputies found a utility van on its roof, partially submerged in water. The single occupant was subsequently removed and found to be deceased. Based upon preliminary information, it appears the van was traveling northbound on Highway 45 at a high rate of speed before entering the ditch and rolling.

The highway was closed for approximately two and a half hours due to the initial response and investigation.

The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Town of Oshkosh Fire Department, Gold Cross Ambulance, the Wisconsin State Patrol, and the Winnebago County Medical Examiner’s Office.
