Wisconsin Her Day at the Wisconsin Herd with We EmpowHer
OSHKOSH, Wis. (WBAY) - Empowering women for success: that’s the goal of “Wisconsin Her Day,” which is coming up this Friday.
All women are invited to attend the free event put on by the Fond du Lac nonprofit “We EmpowHer” along with the Wisconsin Herd.
“Wisconsin Her Day” is March 14th at Oshkosh arena.
Organizers say the event is a celebration of women of all ages and backgrounds and will help give you the tools to reach new heights, both personally and professionally.
“Removing those barriers is a really important thing for our organization, no matter who it is,” said Theresa Menting.
After overcoming her own obstacles, Theresa Menting was inspired to help others do the same. After starting her organization " We EmpowHer,” she took it a step further: helping create “Wisconsin Her Day” three years ago.
“The Wisconsin Herd heard about us and asked if we would join them in creating a women’s empowerment day. A free day for all women,” said Menting.
At Wisconsin Her Day, women can network explore local business booths learn from others and grow as leaders.
“We have a bunch of different facilitators who are leading small groups and professional development,” said Menting.
Menting says women get so much out of the event it continues to grow each year.
“It’s gotten bigger, that’s for sure,” she said. “Last year we had almost 300. We had women from over 87 different cities- all over Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota as well.”
During the event, you have the opportunity to listen to 30 different speakers on topics ranging from financial wellness to family and relationships, and self-discovery.
One of those women is the co-founder of Carbliss Cocktails, Amanda Kroener.
“I’m really excited, I’m also really nervous, it’s probably going to empower me even more than the audience itself because I’m facing a really big fear of public speaking,” said Kroener.
Building confidence, learning new skills, and celebrating the power of women. Menting says that’s what “Wisconsin Her Day” is all about.
“Jam-packed with every type of woman; it is such a beautiful thing,” said Menting.
The event also includes a “teen summit” for young women ages 13 to 18. The special day wraps up in the evening with the Wisconsin Herd game.
The basketball team will change its name to “Wisconsin Her” and players will wear pink jerseys that will be auctioned off to benefit the “We Empow-Her” organization. Visit this website for more information.
