Porterfield man dies after injured in house fire, Marinette County Sheriff confirmed
MARINETTE COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) - An 86-year-old man died following a house fire last week, the Marinette County Sheriff confirmed on Tuesday.
Crews responded around 4:21 p.m. on January 2 to a structure fire at W3457 Weidner Rd in the Town of Porterfield.
The Grover Porterfield Fire Department and deputies from the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
While fighting the fire, firefighters searched the home, found a man, and removed him from the residence.
The man, identified as Robert C. Crosslan, age 86, of Porterfield, sustained fatal injuries that were later determined to have been caused by the fire, the sheriff said in a statement.
“Our thoughts are with the Crosslan family during this difficult time,” the sheriff said in Tuesday’s statement.
The fire remains under investigation by the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office and the Marinette County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Also assisting at the scene were members from the Town of Peshtigo Fire Department, Wagner Fire Department, City of Marinette Fire Department, Wausaukee Fire Department, Pound Fire Department, Town of Lake Fire Department, Mellen Township Fire Department, Paramedics from Aurora - Bay Area, and Marinette ERS.
