GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - A former Green Bay elementary school teacher convicted of sexually assaulting some of his students has filed an appeal.
Online court records show David Villareal filed the paperwork Wednesday for an appeal.
His deadline to appeal was extended six times before he filed his notice to appeal on Nov. 8.
Prosecutors say Villareal’s former students at Baird Elementary School reported that he touched them and made inappropriate comments to them.
Villareal testified in his own defense at trial in 2023.
The jury took one hour to convict him.
He’s serving a sentence of 50 years in prison to be followed by 10 years of extended supervision.
