GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - It’s been twenty years since Sgt. Benjamin Edinger died of his injuries during his second tour in Iraq.

Sgt. Edinger’s family held a celebration of life ceremony on Saturday in his memory.

The Green Bay native graduated from Green Bay West High School in 1999 before attending college at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

After a year in school, he joined the Marines, serving one full tour in Iraq.

After his tour was over, Edinger went back into battle but was injured. Doctors originally believed he would pull through, but in the end, his injuries were too severe.
