OSHKOSH, Wis. (WBAY) - Since the announcement of the NFL Draft coming to Green Bay, accommodations across northeast Wisconsin have been filling up fast, even with prices doubling and tripling.

Amid high public demand and considering all economic factors, EAA announced Thursday that their drive-in campground, Camp Scholler, will be available to reserve from April 19 through the 29th. The NFL Draft will be held at Lambeau Field in Green Bay on April 24-26, 2025.

“It is awesome. It is great news. All of us restaurants love the business. We love the people. We are so excited this is happening,” Mary Voulgaris, general manager of Chester V’s Bar and Grill nearby, said.

Dick Knapinski with EAA says there were many factors to consider. “We had been approached by a couple of people saying, ‘Have you ever thought about opening up the campground?’” said Knapinski. “Taking a look at our own grounds, can we have people here and then get the grounds ready for AirVenture three months later?”

Beginning this Friday, August 16, campsites may be reserved through the EAA website at EAA.org/Camping/Football. Each campsite is available from April 19-29, with a three-night minimum at $175 per night (which includes all taxes and fees). Payment is due in full at the time of reservation.

Each campsite has water and electrical availability for one camper or recreational vehicle, as well as space for one motor vehicle or two motorcycles. Additional motor vehicles may park in an overflow parking lot for $25 per day per vehicle.

With each reserved campsite, EAA is also providing two complementary EAA Aviation Museum passes and a 20 percent discount certificate for merchandise at the Barnstormer Boutique inside the museum (passes and discount are good through April 30, 2025).

Some details are still being worked out.

“Some people have even asked, ‘Well can I come by airplane and camp there?’ Well there’s another question we hadn’t thought of and so all of these things start to pop in and how do we work that, what do we tell these people, and there are probably questions that we haven’t even thought of that are going to be a part of it,” said Knapinski.

“Since COVID, restaurants have not recuperated from that, so anything extra that we can have we are very grateful for. We welcome everybody and hope you come here,” Voulgaris said.

The campground will close on April 29 to get ready the area for EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2025, which is July 21-27. Camp Scholler traditionally opens to welcome AirVenture volunteers and attendees in late June.
