GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - Police responded to what turned out to be a false alarm at a local hospital.

On Friday, shortly after 12:00 p.m. the Green Bay Police Department responded to a reported security emergency at Aurora BayCare Medical Center, located on Greenbrier Road.

Upon arrival, police found this report to be false and no threat was found.

As a precaution, the hospital was put on a temporary lockdown, which has since been lifted.

Police said no further information is planned for release at this time.

Officials are stressing that false reports like this can have a big impact on the community, just by pulling their resources to it, because they take all threats seriously.

The investigation is ongoing, but when it comes to consequences, there are a couple of layers to this.

Depending on what the investigation finds, a false information report could lead to hefty fines and possibly a disorderly conduct charge. If the investigation finds that it’s connected to swatting, the charge will be upped, making it a class I felony, which comes with jail time.
