MARINETTE, Wis. (WBAY) - Friends of missing boater Bill Salnik organized a community search in Marinette on Sunday morning.

As we first alerted you, Salnik and his two children, five-year-old Charlotte and three-year-old Josh, were reported missing last Saturday when they didn’t return from a sailing trip. Bill’s sailboat was found capsized Monday morning off the coast of Fish Creek. Searchers found Charlotte and Josh’s bodies shortly after with life jackets on.

A long-time friend of Bill’s who organized the search says people with resources like planes, boats, diving equipment, and even cadaver dogs came out to help in the search. He says grateful for all the support the community has poured into finding Bill.

“Thank you to everybody that’s helped, even sharing posts, commenting, letting the word out, donating to the family, bringing things to the event today, just bringing different ideas to the table, it all, it all will help in the end,” said Mike Balzola.

We will continue to follow this story and will be the first to alert you to any new information as the search for Bill continues.
