Seymour High School and UWGB alumni Sandy Cohen III has accepted an invite to play for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Summer League.

Cohen tweeted on Monday, “I’m blessed and thankful for everyone that helped me grow along the way. I’m also happy to announce that I have been picked up by the @Cavs for NBA summer league.”

He will play for the Cavs in both the Salt Lake City and the Las Vegas Summer Leagues.

The Salt Lake City Summer League is July 1-3 while the MGM Resorts NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, NV is July 5-15.

Cohen’s first game with the Cavs will be on Monday, July 1 at 4 PM against the San Antonio Spurs on NBA TV.

Cohen, a 6-foot-6 guard, transferred to Green Bay from Marquette and finished his final two seasons of college eligibility with the Phoenix.

He was the only player in NCAA men’s basketball in every major statistical category (points, assists, rebounds, steals and blocks) during the 2018-19 season.

Green Bay basketball Head Coach Linc Darner expects Cohen to get a chance to play both guard and the small forward positions in the NBA

"(Sandy) can play the 1,2, or 3. He is probably more suited at the wing at the next level, but he also had the ability to play the point for us. And he does a lot of different things well. He passes the ball well. He shoots the ball well. And he led us rebounding and can rebound the ball well as a guard. So I think those are things that can separate him from other guys in the process," Darner told WBAY last week.
