Phoenix women fall in OT for first home conference loss in 3 years

GREEN BAY, Wis. ( – The Green Bay women's basketball team was able to force overtime on Saturday afternoon at home against IUPUI, but the Jaguars were able to seal the win, 67-63, after outscoring GB 10-6 in the extra period.

Laken James led the Phoenix with a career-high 19 points, including the game-tying basket to send the game into overtime at the end of regulation. Lyndsey Robson and Madison Wolf joined James in double figures, adding 13 points and 12 points to the Phoenix total, respectively.

The Green Bay women's basketball program welcomed its alumni back as well on Saturday, all of which were recognized on-court at halftime. Former head coach Carol Hammerle was also in attendance, with the game featuring a bobblehead giveaway in her honor.

Hammerle took the court at halftime to address the fans and was welcomed to a standing ovation.

"You need to understand, that the reason this program has been so successful is because of all you sitting in those stands right now, cheering and making a difference," Hammerle said. "I want to thank you so very much."

Green Bay's next matchup is one week away, as the Phoenix welcomes in-state rival to the Kress Center on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 1 p.m.
