Phoenix WBB loses out on conference title for first time in 21 years

CHICAGO, Ill. ( --- Green Bay wrapped up the regular season with its fifth-straight win, defeating UIC at the UIC Pavilion, 77-53, to secure the program's 20th-consecutive season of at least 20 wins.

Wright State was crowned the Horizon League's regular-season champion with a 16-2 mark in league play, besting Green Bay (15-3) by one game to end the program's streak of 20-consecutive regular season conference championships.

Laken James led Green Bay's offensive efforts on the afternoon, scoring 15 points on a 6-of-7 effort from the field paired with a 2-for-2 clip from long range. James also doled out six assists and corralled five rebounds in 28 minutes.

Madison Wolf (12 points), Frankie Wurtz (11 points) and Hailey Oskey (11 points) all joined James in double figures as the Phoenix shot 48.3% (29-60) from the field.

The Phoenix will now shift its focus to the Horizon League Tournament, as GB prepares to host No. 7 Cleveland State on Wednesday, March 6 at 7 p.m.
