GREEN BAY (WBAY) - The Green Bay women open a two game homestand by beating Cleveland State 62-53 on Thursday night at the Kress Events Center. The Phoenix improved to 3-1 in Horizon League play, 8-6 overall. Cleveland State drops to 3-2 in HL play, 6-10 overall. The Phoenix began the night in 4th place in the Horizon League, unusual for them.
Meghan Pingel’s 3-pointer broke an 11-11 tie late in the first quarter, and Green Bay never trailed the rest of the night. Green Bay’s largest lead was 11 points, and the Vikings trimmed that to just 4 points with 8:34 remaining in the game. Laken James and Lyndsey Robson sharing scoring honors for the Phoenix with 11 points, Hailey Oskey chipped in 10 points.
Green Bay will host Youngstown State Saturday at 1pm.
