Aguilar among players up for "Final Vote" into MLB All-Star Game

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - The Milwaukee Brewers have the best record in the National League and three players were named All-Stars in Sunday’s selection show.

Relief pitcher Josh Hader and outfielders Christian Yelich and Lorenzo Cain were the Brewers added to the NL roster for the 89TH annual Midsummer Classic on Tuesday, July 17.

Many think Brewers first baseman Jesus Aguilar was snubbed by voters but there’s still a chance he could get in. Aguilar is among four others in this year’s “Final Vote” in which fans choose from a list of five All-Star caliber players from each league. The highest vote-getter gets the last spot on his respective club for the ASG.

Aguilar has a pretty good case to be the NL selection. He’s tied for the NL lead in homeruns (22), slugging percentage (.633) and on base percentage (1.001). The Brewers organization is behind Aguilar so much that they have changed its Twitter profile name to “#WeBelieveInJesus.”

"He's having an MVP season I mean, he really is, he's having an incredible season I think he's leading the league in homeruns now he's certainly in the top 5 of offensive seasons in the National League right now. He's been brilliant man, he really has. I mean, he's sitting in the middle of the order, he's driving in runs, tough at bats big spots. Walk off homers, so offensively, he's done it all," Brewers Manager Craig Counsell said Sunday.
