Vornado re-announces space heater recall due to fire risk

Recalled Vornado space heaters can overheat and become a fire hazard.

(WBAY) - Vornado is re-announcing its recall of electric space heaters that can overheat and become a fire hazard.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission says the recalled heaters are the VH101 Personal Vortex electric space heaters.

The recall was first announced in April 2018, and was re-announced on August 22.

The recall impacts 350,000 units. They were sold at stores like Bed Bath & Beyond, Home Depot, Menards and Target. They were also sold online at Amazon and other websites.

In Dec. 2017, a 90-year-old man in Chanhassan, Minnesota died from a fire sparked by one of these space heaters. The company has received 19 reports of them catching fire.

The recalled Vornado heaters coming in several colors. The model number is VH101.

Customers can return the recalled heaters for a refund.
