Two arrested after sexual assault in Appleton

APPLETON, Wis. (WBAY) -- Two people have been arrested for a sexual assault that happened overnight in Appleton's south side.

According to the Appleton Police Department, officers responded to a report of a sexual assault of a woman on the 2200 block of S. Oneida Street around 12:30 a.m. Sunday.

Police say the person reporting the assault said multiple men had fled the residence in a vehicle.

Authorities put out a description of the vehicle and within minutes, the vehicle was stopped by a Fox Crossing Police Department officer.

The two suspects, a 22-year-old man and 25-year-old man, were taken into custody without incident.

Police say they are not looking for any more suspects and there is no immediate danger to the public.

The victim has been treated and released from the hospital.
