Two Rivers woman accused of leading deputies on chase in stolen car

MANITOWOC COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) - A 19-year-old woman was arrested after stealing a vehicle and leading deputies on a chase, according to Manitowoc County Sheriff's Office.

On Dec. 4, deputies were called to the 3300 block of E. State Highway 130 in the Township of Two Rivers. A man reported that he had returned home to find a woman trying to steal one of his cars. He pulled up along side the car to try to stop it, but the alleged car thief drove off west on E. STH 130.

A Manitowoc County deputy located the vehicle traveling west on Waldo Blvd near N. 23rd St.

The driver, Jasmine Phillips of Two Rivers, attempted to turn north on N. Rapids Road, but sideswiped a northbound SUV. Phillips continued north at speeds of 80 mph. She eventually lost control and entered a ditch on County Highway R. She took off on foot, but was arrested by deputies a short distance from vehicle.

Phillips was taken to Manitowoc County Jail for operating a motor vehicle without owner's consent, knowingly fleeing an officer, and hit and run causing injury.

The driver of the SUV, a 76-year-old Manitowoc woman, was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries.
