NEWTON, Wis. (WBAY) - The Manitowoc County Coroner's Office has released the names of three people killed in a crash on Interstate 43.

The victims were identified as Derrick J. Konz, 40, Whitelaw; Steven M. Groelle, 62, Manitowoc; and Jennifer Seidl, 33, Manitowoc.

The Manitowoc County Sheriff's Office says Konz's pickup truck crossed the median of Interstate 43 and hit an oncoming minivan in the town of Newton.

Groelle was driving the van with Seidl as his passenger.

Konz, Groelle, and Seidl were all trapped and the Jaws of Life were needed to get them out.

Konz and Seidl were pronounced dead at the scene.

Groelle was airlifted to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The coroner's office says toxicology results for the drivers are pending.

Airbags deployed in both vehicles. Investigators do not know if the victims were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

The sheriff's office, Wisconsin State Patrol and the Manitowoc County Coroner's Office are investigating the crash and why the pickup driver crossed the median.

The northbound lanes of the interstate were closed for about four hours.

The crash happened at about 3:36 p.m.
