Three people were hurt in a head-on crash in New London Thursday evening.

Police were called to Highway 45, south of Highway 54, at about 6:11 p.m.

Police say a vehicle traveling south on Highway 45 tried to pass another vehicle and crashed into a northbound vehicle.

The driver of the southbound vehicle, a 40-year-old Michigan man, was taken to a hospital for serious, but non-life threatening injuries, police say.

Two people in the northbound car also suffered injuries.

A 61-year-old Marion woman was airlifted to a Neenah hospital with possible life-threatening injuries. Her passenger, a 62-year-old Marion woman, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

The highway was closed for about four hours.

The crash remains under investigation.

Police have not released names of the victims.
