FOX VALLEY (WBAY) - ThedaCare announced it will start enhancing its two Fox Cities hospitals rather than develop a single-site hospital, and will focus on expanding access and convenience of care throughout the nine counties it serves.
Officials of the ThedaCare health system made that announcement late Wednesday morning at a news conference on what the future holds for the hospitals in Neenah and Appleton.
Since February 2016, ThedaCare says it has explored the idea of building a new, centrally located hospital.
“After much study, we have determined to focus on improving our existing Fox Cities facilities at their current locations,” said Imran Andrabi, MD, president and CEO of ThedaCare.
ThedaCare says the decision by its board of trustees was unanimous.
Improvements on the existing medical centers will begin immediately.
"We were better off staying true to our mission and our legacy by being where we are today and reinvesting in our existing hospitals, our existing communities and fortifying that and improving that within the nine county area that we serve," Andrabi says.
They hope to provide new and enhanced ways for patients to receive convenient, close to home care.
