Eight local families have obtained American dream. They've been approved for the Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity home-ownership program.
There were tears of joy when the announcement was made Tuesday at Incarnation Lutheran Church in Green Bay.
"They can go to bed every night with a kitchen table to break bread on, and they also have a room to sleep in. And that's really what it's all about," said Cora Haltaufderheid, Executive Director, Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity.
Families applied for the program last September. The families completed eight hours of community service. The Homeowner Selection Committee met with families and went through the approval process.
The eight families were invited to one final application review. They didn't know it would be a surprise announcement that they had been accepted into the program.
