Action 2 News first talked to founder of Nomorobo, Aaron Foss, when his invention was launched. In just a couple of years Nomorobo stopped millions of illegal robocallers.
This week, Foss updated Action 2 News on how Nomorobo has been working for consumers.
“Nomorobo used to just be on landlines now we have an app that protects Apple and Android. Last week we crossed the one billion robocalls blocked milestone so we've really been accomplishing a lot in this fight,” said Foss.
Thousands of people every week, log onto Nomorobo.com to sign up. Foss said all those illegal calls blocked land on blacklists that are fed to phone carriers.
“We're offering them a new feed of our IRS scammers so they can go and take all these numbers and immediately shut these guys down, we're excited to see the carriers, the industry the government, the regulators, everybody is really coming together here to fight this epidemic,” said Foss.
Nomorobo is still free for landlines. The mobile app offers a free 2 week trial, 2 bucks a month after that.
One thing to note, it recognizes those legal automated calls, like school closings, pharmacy or doctor calls and allows those important calls you want to get through.
