BROWN COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) - Two Milwaukee residents have been charged in connection to a human trafficking and prostitution sting in Brown County.
Deon M. Barron, 24, is charged with Solicitation of Prostitutes; and Alexus S. Williams, 22, is charged with Prostitution.
Barron and Williams appeared in Brown County Court Thursday. The court set a $5,000 cash bond for Barron, and a $2,500 cash bond for Williams.
A criminal complaint obtained by Action 2 News details the investigation by Brown County Sgt. Matthew Wilson, an undercover officer assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children/Human Trafficking Division.
On July 10, Wilson was reviewing ads on a website known as Backpage. He texted a phone number in an ad, and received a response from a "BELLA." BELLA texted him that it would be $200 an hour to spend time with a prostitute. She gave Wilson an address for a hotel in downtown Green Bay.
Officers converged on the area of the hotel, where they took "BELLA" into custody. She was identified as Alexus S. Williams.
Officers checked the back parking lot of the hotel and found a car with two males--one of them Deon Barron--and a female inside.
The female was taken into custody. She initially gave a fake name and date of birth, but was later identified as a 15-year-old girl.
The men in the car said Alexus Williams was also involved with the group.
Investigators say Williams admitted to posting an ad on Backpage. She said she had been prostituting herself for several years in Milwaukee, but came to Green Bay to escape her troubles.
The next day, Wilson went on Backpage and saw an ad for a DIAMOND - 18. He said the ad was very similar to the BELLA ad form the day before. DIAMOND gave Sgt. Wilson an address on Edison Street in Green Bay.
Investigators responded to the area and saw the same vehicle they found in the hotel parking lot the day before.
Officers stopped the vehicle and arrested Deon Barron and Alexus Williams. Williams had been released from jail earlier that day.
Barron gave a statement saying that he came to Green Bay to visit a friend. He ended up with his brother, his "somewhat girlfriend" Alexus Williams, and the 15-year-old girl. He told officials he had driven Alexus around for "dates" and used money she got from prostitution to buy food and gas.
Williams told police that the 15-year-old girl was the one who had been texting Sgt. Wilson, and had made the arrangement for Williams to have sex with him.
Williams told Sgt. Wilson that the teen "basically was her pimp."
Sgt. Wilson viewed William's phone and the Backpage information, that showed Williams had posted multiple times across Wisconsin. Several posts had been removed by the community, which often happens when females appears to be younger than 18.
Action 2 News will continue to follow this developing story.
