OUTAGAMIE COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) - Fox Valley Metro Police have arrested a 23-year-old volunteer wrestling coach on multiple charges relating to inappropriate contact with children.

Garrett B. Heder of Suamico was arrested Tuesday following an online investigation.

Heder had been a volunteer assistant wrestling coach at Bay Port High School since November 2017.

The district says Heder's volunteer status has been revoked and he is no longer allowed to have contact with district students or be on district grounds.

A spokesperson for the Howard-Suamico School District released this statement:

"The Fox Cities Metro Police Department notified the district Tuesday, February 6 of the impending arrest of Garrett Heder, a volunteer coach with the Bay Port High School wrestling program. Heder completed a successful background check before beginning his work with the team, in accordance with district policy. As a volunteer coach, Heder assisted the Bay Port High School wrestling coaching staff at practices and competitions this season.

We have no indication that any of the alleged criminal activity took place on district grounds, using district resources, or involving district students. We remain in contact with the Fox Cities Metro Police Department in order to provide assistance as needed."

Heder is in the Outagamie County jail on six counts of representations depicting nudity, a felony, and 11 counts of exposing a child to harmful material.

Heder will not appear in court Wednesday. Action 2 News will update this story as we learn details of his first court appearance.

Police say this is an on-going investigation. Contact Officer Brandon Stahmann at 920-788-7505 if you have information.
