SUAMICO, Wis. (WBAY) - Suamico firefighters say a house appears to be a total loss after a fire Monday afternoon.

A neighbor walking their dog called 911 after seeing smoke from the house on the 3400-block of Blackberry Lane just before noon. Nobody was in the house at the time.
"Fortunately, there was a neighbor around that was out and about that could smell the smoke and hear the fire alarms going off," Suamico Fire Chief Troy Noe said.
It was a large house, and firefighters were in defensive mode to control the fire. More fire departments were called in to help. The roof was at least partially caved in.
Salt trucks were brought in to fight back the pooling, freezing water. No injuries were reported from fighting the fire.
At the time of this writing, the Suamico Fire Department hasn't been able to get inside the house to start an investigation into the cause of the fire
Parents going to pick up their children at Suamico Elementary were detoured because of the fire response. Parents couldn't use entrances off School Lane (County Highway B) but had to park behind the school instead.
Realtor.com says the property was assessed for $645,900 in 2017.
