Fond du Lac man identified as crash victim

FOND DU LAC COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) - UPDATE 10/31:

Speed and alcohol were factors in an Oct. 30 crash that killed a Fond du Lac man, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The victim was identified as 21-year-old Ryan Alexander Leonard.

The crash happened at the intersection of State Highway 23 and County Road I in the Town of Lamartine.

Investigators say Leonard was driving south on County Road I when he failed to stop for the stop sign at Highway 23. His vehicle traveled through a yard, hit a tree and burst into flames.

Leonard died in the crash and fire, investigators say.

The crash remains under investigation.

The Sheriff's Office says speed and alcohol were contributing factors in the crash.

Leonard was wearing a seat belt and airbags deployed.

Lamartine firefighters were able to put out the fire.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash is under investigation. The name of the driver was not released.
