Sheriff's Office says speed a factor in Door County crash

DOOR COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) - The Door County Sheriff's Office says speed appears to have been a factors in a crash that killed a person in the township of Gardner.

On Feb. 13, emergency crews were called to a single-vehicle crash on Lime Kiln Rd.

Crews found a car in a brushy area off the roadway. The driver was airlifted to a Green Bay hospital where he died, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The investigation found the driver went into the ditch and hit a utility pole before resting in the brushy area.

"Speed appears to have been a factor in the crash and the crash remains under investigation. The name of the driver is not being released pending notification of the family," reads a statement from the Sheriff's Office.

Officers were called to the scene at 4:28 p.m.
