For more than a year, someone was clogging the toilets at Deland Community Center by pushing a 20-ounce soda bottle into the pipes, causing thousands of dollars' worth of damage and for repairs.

On Memorial Day, police arrested a 33-year-old man identified with the help of a citizen's tip.

The case was forwarded to the district attorney's office for prosecution.

Police began investigating the vandalism to the women's bathroom at the community center in April 2017.

The Public Works Department would have to remove the toilet to get to the plumbing underneath to remove the bottle.

Police put out a plea to the community in March to help figuring out who was causing the damage.

"It's serious and we don't want to inconvenience the people of Sheboygan or our visitors and we don't want to waste any more taxpayer dollars," Sheboygan Police Sgt. Joel Kuszynski told us at the time.
