NORTHEAST WISCONSIN (WBAY) -- This summer, Badgers basketball star turned NBA Player Sam Dekker and ESPN reporter Olivia Harlan will tie the knot in Door County.
But instead of asking for wedding gifts, the couple is asking for donations to charity.
Specifically, the pair is asking for donations to the Children’s Cancer Family Foundation, or CCFF.
Friends and family invited to the wedding are asked to donate, as well as the general public, who will receive an autographed “thank you” card for each donation more than $50.
"The fundraising helps them through the day-to-day, the medical costs," Olivia Harlan tells Action 2 News. "A lot of them have to take the time off of work. It all adds up. To take the financial burden away is just life changing for them."
Dekker and Harlan have been CCFF supporters since 2014.
“Sam and Olivia have helped many of our CCFF families create family memories that will last a lifetime,” said Sarah-Beth Janssen, president and cofounder of CCFF. “Their kind hearts and genuine nature have made Strike Out Cancer Day a must-attend event for our families.”
Well-wishers and wedding guests can make their “Harlan-Dekker Wedding Gift Wish” online.
