LUXEMBURG, Wis. (WBAY) - A raging fire destroyed a Luxemburg family's home this week.
On April 10, the Luxemburg Community Fire Department was called to N7435 Rendezvous Road in the Town of Red River. On the way to the scene, firefighters were told that the building was engulfed and the residents had escaped.
Crews arrived to find "heavy fire" throughout the home. A barn was downwind of hot blowing embers.
The Luxemburg Community Fire Department says it had to battle the fire from the outside.
"Crews also watered and foamed the barn to prevent it from starting on fire. As firefighters worked on extinguishing the house fire, a separate crew was sent to investigate the interior of the barn. That crew found cattle in a smoke filled barn and firefighters were able to get the cattle out," reads a post on the Luxemburg Community Fire Department Facebook page.
The house fire continued to rage and crews tried an interior attack. However, conditions were too dangerous inside the home and they had to come back out for a defensive attack.
The home is considered a "total loss." There were no reports of injuries.
The American Red Cross helped firefighters on scene and the people displaced by the fire.
Crews were on scene for about five hours. Multiple departments assisted Luxemburg.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Firefighters were called to the home at about 3:45 p.m.
