GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - Leonardo Da Vinci School in Green Bay is preparing for the 5th annual Pi Day 5K.
The run/walk raises money for the Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity.
Pi Day 5K has raised $62,000 for Habitat over the past four years.
The Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity is set to build five homes in 2019. Families who qualify for a Habitat home get an interest-free mortgage. The families help with the building of the homes.
Pi Day 5K hopes to raise $19,000 more for Habitat.
The school is looking for donations and pledges. They're also selling t-shirts designed by Leonardo Da Vinci 5th grade students.
"The kids have started setting up since October, and all 5th graders, the group meets at lunch, and we've sent out letters to sponsorships, looking for raffle prizes," says Allison Hockers, Physical Ed and Health teacher. "They've designed two t-shirts this year, one for everyone, and then if you want the option, you can buy the five-year anniversary shirt."
2019's Pi Day 5K is being held on March 9. It starts at 8 a.m.
