GREEN BAY, WIS (WBAY) - *** UPDATE *** -- The Green Bay Packers have requested an interview with Saints offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael, according to CBS Sports' Jason LaCanfora.

The Packers coaching search makes progress on New Year’s Day.

NFL Network's Ian Rappaport reporting that New England Patriots Offensive Coordinator Josh McDaniels will interview with the Packers on Friday.

Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports that New Orleans Saints Associate Head Coach Dan Campbell will interview on Saturday.

The Packers have this week to interview any candidates on the 4 teams with playoff byes this weekend; the Patriots, Chiefs, Rams and Saints.

Former Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy will interview with the Cleveland Browns on Thursday, according to WBAY Cover 2 and ESPN’s Rob Demovsky.

That should be a very comfortable interview for McCarthy as friend and longtime colleague in Green Bay, John Dorsey, is the Browns General Manager. NFL Network also reporting that the New York Jets will interview McCarthy, although it unclear whether that will be before or after the interview with Cleveland. Like the Browns, the Jets have a promising, young quarterback; and they are flush with salary cap space, perhaps the most in the league depending on how some of their current contracts play out. New York will also be picking 3rd in April’s NFL Draft.
