OSHKOSH, Wis. (WBAY) -- The Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce and the Oshkosh Economic Development Corporation are supporting the sale of a portion of Lakeshore Golf Course to Oshkosh Corporation.
Oshkosh city officials say the company has expressed interest in 30 acres of the 107 acre site.
In a joint statement on Monday, the Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Economic Development Corporation said Oshkosh Corporation is an important business that has been in the community for more than 100 years.
"We believe selling a portion of the Lakeshore Golf Course site to Oshkosh Corporation is a must to ensure that our city and economy remain strong and vibrant for generations to come," read the statement.
The company designs and builds specialty trucks, truck bodies, and access equipment.
Oshkosh Corporation is expected to make a decision on the site by November.
The sale has come with some opposition from the community.
An Oshkosh man who lives next to the site has started a petition asking the city not sell the golf course.
