Oshkosh Corp unveils design for new corporate headquarters
We're getting a glimpse of what the new headquarters for major defense contractor Oshkosh Corporation will look like.
Construction will take place on the site of the Lakeshore Golf Course off Lake Butte des Morts, near Interstate 41.
Before a crowd of community leaders, Oshkosh Corporation president and CEO Wilson Jones expressed plenty of excitement, introducing a video of what the company's new corporate headquarters will soon look like from almost every angle sitting on 30 acres of lakefront property.
Jones said, "The people that know us when they see that building are going to see that stability, the stone work, the chevron, which relates really to our military business and the strength of that steel chevron. It's going to speak out that, that company is making a difference."
On the inside, the building will have a number of collaboration areas and meeting points meant to encourage interaction.
The campus has the future capacity for up to 650 workers.
"This is what you see in major metropolitan areas for corporate headquarters," said Oshkosh Mayor Steve Cummings. "We're going to have to have everyone set the bar higher in Oshkosh now when they design or build something."
Besides the unveiling, Oshkosh Corporation also announced a $600,000 donation to construct a one mile trail from the property to Rainbow Park, which everyone can use.
Jones added, "Today our net debt is really low, our balance sheet has never been this good, and then we've got the opportunity to generate a lot of free cash. It's going to give us alternatives to pursue all types of different opportunities."
The hope is to break ground with construction in May with completion in the fall of 2019.
