UPDATE 1/28:

Green Bay Police are investigating a shooting on the city's east side as a homicide.

On Sunday night, officers were called to 616 George St. for a report of a man who had been shot.

Police found a 29-year-old man in the basement. He was dead. Authorities said the 911 call was made by someone who lives at the house.

Investigators were able to process the outside of the house before the snow started falling Sunday night, but have been inside gathering evidence all Monday.

Commander Paul Ebel with the department said a police officer will be stationed outside the house until they get autopsy results, which are expected Tuesday.

In the meantime, police are interviewing people who knew the victim.

Officers have not announced an arrest, but say there are people they are interested in talking to about the shooting. Police said there is no danger to the public because they believe the parties involved knew each other.

The victim's name was not released.

Police were called to the scene at 7:20 p.m.

This is Green Bay Police Department's first homicide of the year and first shooting homicide since 2016.
