WAUPACA COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) – The United States Geological Survey (USGS) has confirmed reports of earthquakes about 7.5 miles north of Iola, Wisconsin.
Waupaca County Emergency Management received reports last week of buildings shaking and rumbling noises from residents in the area.
The USGS said one earthquake happened on July 7th just after 2:30 p.m and was a magnitude of 1.3 but there was another one on July 15th around 1:39 p.m as well with a magnitude of 1.5 ( at a depth of less than 5km).
Officials said the other reported earthquakes may have been too small to detect.
There have not been any reports of damage to structures.The last confirmed earthquake in Waupaca County was in March of 2012 near Clintonville, Wisconsin.
